Arts Fest 2018

On Monday the 9th July we held our annual Parkside Federation Academies (PFA) Arts Fest at Coleridge. The event is designed to bring together a large number of students from across the PFA schools, in a celebration of the Arts – music, drama, dance, art, singing, and all manner of mixtures of these disciplines!

Mr Mark Patterson, Headteacher of Coleridge, said “I was privileged to be here on Monday evening and what I saw reminded me (if ever I needed reminding) of the power of schooling to enrich the lives of young people. The feat of organisation alone that is required to pull off such an ambitious event on one school site is extraordinary – dozens of individual performances, over 500 students taking part, over a thousand families with us on the evening, the multiple venues and performances happening simultaneously… I do not believe that in any other school or multi-academy trust in the UK would you find such an event! It was extraordinary. And it didn’t just remind me of the transformative power of Arts education, it made me feel very proud.”

Mr Adrian Kidd, Headteacher of Trumpington, said “Trumpington Community College students, along with all others, smashing it at the Arts Fest ‘18. Amazing performances: hugely inspiring to see all our young people performing with such professionalism. 110%.”

We would like to thank all of the families that came along to support the event and, of course, every student that took part – you were all amazing!

Success at Jubilee Cup District Athletics

93 students from across all three schools from Y7-10 competed against nine other schools in a scorching hot afternoon at the St Ivo Athletics track.  Having gained promotion from the Olympic Cup athletics two years ago, our primary aim was to ensure we consolidated our position in the top league.  Without score updates throughout the afternoon, we felt our athletes had done enough to avoid 10th place.
Over the afternoon we secured 24 individual medals (8 golds, 8 silvers and 8 bronzes). The students highlighted are medalists   Parkside Federation Jubilee Cup team 2018
As the results were announced in reverse order our name was conspicuously absent until we were announced in joint 6th place,  we tied with local rivals Netherhall. This is a fantastic achievement for the students and PE staff, of which we are extremely proud of.
