Rowing Extravaganza
On the 200 Day count down to the 2012 Olympics, Parkside hosted a Rowing Competition for secondary schools in the Cambridgeshire district.
Eight schools attended the event including Bottisham, Netherhall, Soham, St Bedes and Chesterton, with over 75 students taking part. The event was centred on Team and Individual races with the highest performers qualifying to the County Tournament. Sport Teacher Mr Thornely was the event organiser and he expressed his delight at the number of schools and competitors taking part “It’s great to see a variety of students rowing individually and in teams. All students were having fun and showing a fantastic desire to work hard for each other”
The Federation was represented in the Year 7 and 9 categories. Matthew Nesbit was victorious in the Year 7 Individual race and was also part of a winning Year 7 Team event with Leon Giesler, Ruan Malone and Joseph Fitzpatrick. Bethan Morgan was the highest Federation girl finisher in the Year 7 event with a credible 4th Place (out of 12).The year 9 boy’s team (Luca Lombardi and Aaron Cope finished a solid 3rd place.
